Mi outfit para celebrar la fiesta de Independencia de México

This week is Mexico’s national party. Yes, you read right, it isn’t 5 de mayo. Today you will learn about real Mexican history and traditions from a real Mexican.

First of all, on May 5th we celebrate the Battle of Puebla, when the French tried to invade our territory in 1862. General Ignacio Zaragoza fought with a very small army against Napoleon III’s forces, which retreated. It is a very important day, we commemorate it, but don’t really celebrate it with Mexican parties.

Mexico started a war for its Independence in the first hours of September 16th 1810. Miguel Hidalgo, a priest who sustained gatherings with rebel criollos (people of Spanish descent who enjoyed privileges like education) to revolt against the tyrannical government. He used the bells in the Church at Dolores, a small town, to call the people and he urged them to defend their rights and their land. This is called “El grito de Dolores” or the Cry of Dolores.

Every year our president re-enacts the grito in the presidential balcony on the night of September 15th. He rings the bell of the National Palace and shouts for the heroes of our nation, ending with “Viva México”. The people answer “Viva!” he waves our flag, we sing our national anthem and then we have the fireworks. On this day we do have a lot of parties and live our traditions with joy.

Now back to the outfit, I’m wearing jeans and high heels with a traditional blouse with ribbon in our flag’s colors. Aso, this is the first post where I show you my new haircut.

Amigos hispanohablantes, les cuento que al celebrarse esta semana la Independencia de México, quiero compartir con ustedes mi outfit para festejar. En la parte de arriba del post encontrarán una reseña que aclara el sentido de nuestras fiestas y unos enlaces para probar recetas auténticas.

Este es mi primer post estrenando corte de pelo, un lob bastante liso que facilita mis mañanas. La verdad, quiero dejarlo crecer y hacer unas bellas trenzas pinterescas, pero eso será en unos años.

Por ahora les comparto un outfit que muestra los colores de mi bandera.

  6. Te ves preciosa y me gusta mucho tu blusa, mas, porque fue hecha por indigenas (amo las artesanias indigenas!) Los colores, de Mexico, son preciosos en la blusa! Me gusto muchisimo saber mas de Mexic, tradiciones, como el presidente hace el Grito de Dolores y saber que la fiesta de la independencia sera esta semana! Veia a Televisa siempre y mucho aprendi, creo, pero se corto en Sky y ahora no lo tengo mas 😦 Te ves linda y me gusta mucho tu outfit – la verdad es que me gusta tu estilo y tu blog siempre tiene cosas que me encantan, para aprender! Como esta la Sisi? No siente miedo de la fiesta (por los fuegos). Espero que estea bien!

  47. Ey, déjame decirte que me gusto el post porque sentí como si te estuviera conociendo. Ayer vi que subiste en Fb el enlace de tu blog por parte de «SION», asi que decidi checarlo.
    Me agrado la idea de exponerle a la gente cuando es la verdadera fiesta patria y asi no mal confundirlo internacionalmente con el 5 de mayo. Me agrado la idea de compartir tu outfit, en donde sales por cierto super. Y Como ya alguien lo comento la blusa indígena si le da un toque muy nacional, pero en mi opinión personal no es muy de mi agrado que solo se les utilice por ser eso, ya que es más que una prenda de vestir, en la cual debes de sentir la «camiseta» -así como se dicen en los deportes- y por eso mismo hay que dejar que la gente que en verdad lo siente lo utilice. No lo digo con animo de ofender, pero este sentimiento lo experimente cuando fui a varios voluntariados en comunidades indígenas y ver el gran amor y respeto que tienen por su cultura me hizo darme cuenta que la proyección por este tipo de cosas no es muy bien visto.
    También quería decirte que hace uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh te conocí en un festival San Juan y te me hiciste una super chica, linda desde los pies al alma, y espero verte pronto y poder platicar más.

Hola 😀 justamente esta semana también es de fiestas patrias en nuestra país, acá el 18 de septiembre se celebra la primera junta de gobierno (aunque muchos se confunden y creen que trata de la independencia)… en cuanto a tu tenida, recuerdo cuando tenía unas 13 años se pusieron de moda ese tipo de blusas… tuve varias y daban un toque étnico bastante encantador 😉

  59. I really learned a lot from your post. I’m going to have to ask my son if his teacher talked to his class about this at all in school during his Spanish class. It sounds a little like the 4th of July in the States with the fireworks and festivities. I love this off the shoulder top on you and I love how festive it is for your holiday.
