Hoy es el día 7 de confinamiento “voluntario”. Los primeros días estuvieron llenos de ansiedad para mí. Deseaba (y necesitaba) ya un descanso, pero el confinamiento no es descanso.
A través de los años aprendí a sacar fuerza y finalizarme en dos cosas: Dios y mis seres queridos. Resulta que hoy será la última misa presencial en mi ciudad, y no puedo ver a mis amigos. Encima, no parece haber una fecha en que la pandemia se controle en México, y por lo tanto, en que el aislamiento termine. Me siento en una cuaresma que no verá la Pascua.
¿Qué es la cuaresma? Un tiempo (40 días) de conversión que nos prepara para vivir la Pasión y Resurrección de Cristo. Es tiempo de perdón y reconciliación, de reflexión por medio de prácticas de obras de caridad, privaciones, ayuno y abstinencia para crecer como hijos de Dios, y volver a sus caminos, sin ídolos ni vicios.
Esta es una de las cuaresmas más difíciles que hemos tenido. Como les digo, ni siquiera tenemos una fecha en que termine. Me queda muy clara la frase “no hay Pascua sin cruz”.
Ayer llovió por algunos minutos y después apareció un bello arcoíris. Hoy me he puesto a reflexionar sobre este arcoíris, en Génesis 9, 8-17, en que el Creador nos promete que al ver esa señal en las nubes, recordará su alianza con nosotros de no volver a destruir la vida.
En tiempos de pandemia esto adquiere un gran significado de esperanza. El Covid19 parece invencible, especialmente bajo la negativa de autoridades para hacerle frente antes de que sea muy tarde.
En tiempos de aislamiento, da un sentido. Hemos de prepararnos en lo oculto para salir a ser fecundos al terminar la tormenta. “Por sus frutos los conocerán” Mt. 7,16 y el fruto más importante que puede dar la vida cristiana es el amor, sin amor nada más sirve (1Co. 13)
Estamos llamados a salir de nosotros mismos. Este aislamiento está marcado por la interacción virtual. Podemos saludar a nuestros seres queridos, llamar a aquellos a quienes hace tiempo no vemos, y compartir lo que hacemos con un par de movimientos del dedo. No estamos impedidos de las muestras de cariño e interés. Pero también podemos rezar. Ya no tenemos el pretexto del tiempo y podemos alimentarnos con la palabra de Dios. Podemos nutrirnos e ir más lejos, para de verdad llegar a la Pascua.
El arcoíris nos recuerda que el coronavirus pasará. Que la cuaresma pasará. Y que debemos de estar listos para ello con corazones amplios en amor.

This is the perfect time to take a break and relax. It is great that you are big with religion. This is a difficult time but together, we will successfully beat the virus and go back to our everyday lives soon enough. We just need to stay positive and have our mindsets hope for the best. The rainbow is a great symbol of hope! I live in the UK and here people, especially children, are painting rainbows and displaying them in the windows of their homes, to spread joy. Are they doing that in Mexico too?
