No todos los libros te cambian la vida. De hecho muy pocos lo hacen. A finales de abril empecé a leer este libro lentamente, y creo que nunca había aprendido tanto en tan poco tiempo.
Historia de un alma es el relato autobiográfico que hace Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús y de la Santa Faz a petición de su hermana, antes de morir. Ella escribió también cartas y poemas, de una profundidad asombrosa y de una riqueza espiritual infinita.
Santa Teresita fue una carmelita descalza que vivió de 1873 a 1897 en Francia. Una gran buscadora de la santidad y la belleza, proclama que su vocación es el amor. Toda su vida la centra en amar más, en actuar por amor a los demás y a Dios, en sacrificar por amor.
¿Cómo es que este libro ha tocado tanto mi vida?
Santa Teresita y yo tenemos en común muy pocas cosas, y a la vez demasiadas. Al hablar ella de su vocación, me da luz sobre la mía, que no es de ser religiosa, pero sí de amar cada día más y más. Mi Carmelo (su convento) está afuera. Me queda claro que yo también estoy llamada a Vivir de amor con exigencia. Sus comparaciones tan sencillas, sus deseos tan humildes de pequeñez, su gran apego a la Eucaristía y a la oración, me trazan un camino fácil de seguir un día a la vez, Solamente por hoy.
La unión entre el amor, el sacrificio y la humildad es ejemplar en este libro. Creo que nunca nadie me había enseñado tanto sobre cómo amar. Es un mensaje más que relevante, urgente tras los acontecimientos que vivimos en el mundo. Desde que lo terminé, no dejo de recomendarlo a creyentes y no creyentes, porque Thérèse es primeramente humana, y no hay persona a la que sus textos no le aporten grandes mensajes.
