In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells John, “Behold your mother.” Mary, who accompanied Jesus from His birth to His death, serves as a perfect example of serving as a disciple of Christ. And, through this action, Jesus offers His perfect disciple not just to John but to the entire Church as our Mother. On today’s Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, I pray that we seek to have no fear or anxiety like our Blessed Virgin Mary through the greatest trials that we face day-to-day! This photo comes from St. Bede’s Chapel in the @penncatholic center. . “Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. . Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.” — John 19:25-34

How many times have we questioned our value and the purpose we have as beings chosen by God? Surely they have been many times. The number is little compared to the great fear that most of the time we experience when facing life and our insecurities. . . God says to us: Why are you afraid, if I am with you? Beloved, why are you afraid if Lord is with you? And not only Lord, his Mother, his angels and his saints also accompany you. Not because today it's raining, tomorrow the sun will not rise. Every situation in your life that can cause you fear, anguish and makes you doubt yourself can change radically if you decide to put God's blessing first. . . Lord has a purpose perfectly designed for you, because He has chosen you. But in that purpose, in that plan, there is no word FEAR. Trust Him even if your legs tremble or even if your eyes cannot see the light.
